Bristol City Leap’s work on Social Housing

Bristol City Leap is leading a vital retrofit project for over 28,000 social housing properties across Bristol. This initiative represents a significant advancement in enhancing the sustainability and comfort of social housing in the city as part of the ambitious Bristol City Leap programme.

The project will address the outdated infrastructure of these buildings, providing support to social housing residents during the colder winter months. Bristol City Leap uses various retrofit tools to reduce energy consumption and improve overall energy efficiency.

What energy efficiency work is being delivered?

We specialise in energy efficiency solutions tailored to meet the unique needs of each home and building. Below is a selection of measures we may install, depending on what’s most suitable for the property.

uPVC Windows

All flats and communal areas are fitted with new, high-performance uPVC windows. These windows provide greater security, reduce noise, and improve energy efficiency by eliminating draughts.

Improved Ventilation

Enhanced ventilation systems are installed in the flats to improve indoor air quality and reduce issues related to dampness and mould, making homes healthier for residents.

New Front Doors

Each property is fitted with a brand-new front door, improving security and insulation. The new doors enhance the overall look of the building.

External Wall Insulation and Finishes

A new layer of insulation is added to the building’s exterior, ensuring that homes stay warmer in winter and cooler in summer. The external walls have also been given a fresh finish, improving both the aesthetic and weather resistance.

Roof and Loft Insulation

A new roof is installed to address leaks and improve insulation. Additional loft insulation is added to ensure heat is retained, creating a more comfortable living environment and further lowering energy costs.

Cavity Wall Insulation

Gaps in the building’s walls are filled with insulation, reducing heat loss and helping tenants save on heating bills.

These works not only contribute to a more sustainable Bristol but also deliver immediate benefits for residents. The improvements will lead to significant reductions in energy consumption, lower heating costs, and a more comfortable living space, while also enhancing the appearance of the housing.
